Understand the Look & Texture of Your Memorial
Each monument we create can be finished in a variety of ways — from polished, high-gloss surfaces to natural, hand-chiseled textures. These finishes affect not only the appearance but also the overall feel of the memorial.
Polished Surfaces
A smooth, high-gloss finish that reflects light and gives granite its signature shine. Most monuments feature at least some polished areas.
Rock Pitched
A rough, natural texture created by hand-chiseling the granite with hammer and chisel. Ideal for a rustic, traditional look.
Sawn Sides
Smooth but unpolished, sawn surfaces may show faint lines from the cutting blade. Often used on hidden or underground parts of the stone.
Honed Surfaces
A partially polished surface that is smooth but not shiny. Creates a subtle contrast when paired with polished areas.
Stippled
Tiny white dimples created by a fine-point tool. Adds a decorative, dotted texture to specific areas.
Steeled Surfaces
A smooth, bright-white texture created by sandblasting with steel shot. Adds a striking contrast against polished surfaces.
Dusted Surfaces
Tiny white dimples created by a fine-point tool. Adds a decorative, dotted texture to specific areas.

No - all finishes are applied to high-quality granite or marble and do not impact the structural integrity of the memorial. They simply affect its appearance and texture.
